Chelsea Williams-Diggs is the Executive Director of the New York Abortion Access Fund (NYAAF), a leading nonprofit organization committed to ensuring abortion access and reproductive justice for people in New York and those traveling there for care.
With roots in global gender policy and international sexual and reproductive health, Williams-Diggs began her organizing journey as a clinic escort in Queens. She joined NYAAF’s board in 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic and was appointed full-time staff in 2022 following the landmark Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision.
Williams-Diggs holds keen insight into the structural barriers facing abortion seekers—even in states with legal access. She challenges assumptions about “safe states” and underscores the urgency of funding, transporting, and empowering those whose autonomy is most at risk.
